Ready. Fire. Aim.

Published by Spencer on

Hi for my first post, I’ll just briefly introduce myself. My name is Spencer Thompson. I live in the suburbs outside of Toronto.

I definitely feel a little uncomfortable launching my site without my logo and webdesign really prepared. But I’ve also been feeling anxious to get the ball rolling with some content and letting a number of ideas out of my head and into writing. I recalled earlier this week an excellent phrase that was introduced to me by Chris Guillebeau in his book, “Side Hustle“: “Ready. Fire. Aim.” Reminding readers and entrepreneurs to create action and make adjustments as needed, rather than waiting until everything is figured out and everything is perfect to take your first step.

Anyways, on with my introduction….I am currently enrolled in Level One training with the IFS Institute. I previously took Jay Earley’s courses on Internal Family Systems (Basic, Exiles and Advanced). There are 2-3 other (non-IFS) trainings I’m currently planning to attend in the upcoming year as well, provided that I can accommodate them into the IFS training schedule and my full-time business. My plan is to begin my coaching practice in the new year of 2021.

As of now, I have been a small business owner in the landscaping industry for 12+ years. For the past 5-6 years my passions have been shifting toward philosophy, self-knowledge, self-development, and specifically, Internal Family Systems and the IFS community. In my off hours I organize and facilitate a weekly interactive group and two weekly IFS peer meetings, as well as a few other less frequent meetings and activities.

My primary goal with coaching will be to teach my clients the skills and methods for ‘getting into Self’ and learning their internal world of parts, so that they will be empowered to live a Self-led life. I will be looking to offer one-on-one sessions, group facilitation and classes.

Noticing that I’m writing this several months before I intend to really start, I’m curious how those plans may shift or change before the end of the year, and end of my Level One training, so stay tuned!
